About Our Child Care Center
Welcome! Curley’s Kids Care is a NAEYC accredited Day Care Center that provides high quality care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old in an infant/toddler, day care/nursery school program or before and after school program. The purpose of Curley’s Kids Care is to provide an educationally sound, safe, healthy environment for young children. Curley’s welcomes all children and does not discriminate according to race, gender, ethnic or religious background, or children with special needs or disabilities. Curley’s Kids care is NAEYC accredited. What is NAEYC accreditation? It is a voluntary process that a center chooses to participate in to confirm that the center is a high quality childcare center. NAEYC stands for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC’s Academy defines a high quality center as “one that meets the needs of and promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of the children and adults (parents, staff and administrators) - who are involved in the program. Each day of a child’s life is viewed as leading toward the growth and development of a healthy, intelligent, and contributing member of society.”

Educational Philosophy
Each child is a unique individual. The center’s educational program will build on each child’s own needs, interests, talents and capabilities. The staff also recognizes the importance of an atmosphere of emotional security in which the child can most effectively develop a positive self-image and learn to respect others and their property. In the preschool program, we use the Department of Education recommended curriculum, the Connecticut Framework and Assessments. We want you to come find your place with us. Infants and Toddlers
6 Weeks - 36 Months
Curley’s Kids Care infant/toddler program will be based on relationship planning, emphasizing child-directed learning. The environment will ensure safety, offer children appropriate developmental challenges and promote optimum health for children. Equally important is to make a meaningful connection between childcare and the child’s family. The foundation of this program is based on primary care, small groups, continuity of care and individualized schedules and routines. This provides a climate for care that reinforces our responsive relationship based approach. Teachers/ primary caregivers will observe each child’s strengths, interests, and needs on an ongoing basis, in order to conduct assessments that will inform classroom instruction, curriculum, relationships, and teaching approaches. Play is planned for each day, as this is how infants and toddlers learn best!
Preschool
3, 4 & 5 Year Old
Curley’s Kids Care 3, 4 and 5 year old program is based on the thematic approach using a hands on approach. The Connecticut Preschool Curriculum and Assessment Frameworks are used as the basis for planning learning experiences, observing and documenting child progress, and implementing teaching strategies. The staff will develop activities (based on educational objectives) that are age appropriate and geared towards each child’s stage of development. Children will be active learners - observing, questioning, comparing, and problem solving. Children will learn to express their feelings in appropriate ways to get along with others. They will be encouraged to respect personal property. By establishing a nurturing, inviting, trusting environment with age appropriate activities, children will be prepared for a smooth transition into their elementary school experiences. The schedule includes self-directed/teacher directed activities, small/large group play, snack, lunch, book time and naptime.
School Age and Summer Program
5 Years - 10 Years
Curley’s Kids Care will establish a smooth transition for 6 to 12 year old children from their school setting to their Before/After school program. The before/after school program is designed to provide a warm, understanding relationship between the child and staff. The setting will allow a quiet place for kids when needed or a place to release their excess energy. The goal of the program is to add enrichment through encouraging hobbies and new skills. The youngster will be given choices of activities to participate in. Board games, quiet reading, dramatic play, computers, and other special interest corners will be provided. The children will also be able to participate in special interest clubs such as: scrap-booking, model car building, dance club, athletic clubs, etc. The staff will help youngsters select something of interest and will provide the materials and guidance they need. Children will also be encouraged to participate in serving our community. A nutritious snack will be provided in a social, family style atmosphere.
